Students who placed 1st and 2nd will advanced to our state competition, and our third place winners, in addition to two other members, Harrison Louis and Geoffrey Dekrafft, will form partnerships to participate in two team events.

Club Overview
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.  Through participation in DECA activities, 92% DECA members say they learned how to communicate thoughts and ideas, how to organize a presentation and more about what businesses expect from employees, while gaining problem solving skills.  More than 90% of DECA members say their experience empowered them to be an effective leader and connected school to the real world. Nearly 80% of DECA members say DECA helped them recognize the benefit of community service.  DECA members say their experience prepared them academically for college and career (88%), influenced their college plans (68%), influenced their career plans (75%) and influenced their interest in entrepreneurship and owning a business (61%).

Club Highlights
Bird DECA had 9 participants place at the District Competition and 3 were eligible to move on to state competition.
Bird DECA had the Marketing Communications Team Decision Making (MMTD) team place as finalist at the VA State Leadership Conference making them eligible to compete at the international level. The MMTD team received the Award of Excellence at the International Career Development Conference in April of 2015.

Time Commitment:
Our club begins with an informational meeting in September.  Meetings are generally held monthly where we talk about upcoming competitions and practice for competition.


Membership Requirements:
You must currently be enrolled in a Marketing or  Economics/Personal Finance class in order to join DECA.
