Orchestra and Guitar

Classes are available in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
 
6th Grade Beginning Orchestra
 
Beginning Orchestra provides the opportunity for students to learn various instruments such as the violin, viola, cella, or string bass. Students will complete Level I in the Orchestra curriculum. Performances are mandatory and are a part of the overall grade in this class. Special attire may be required for performances.
 
7th Grade Intermediate Orchestra
 
Students continue to develop the basic skills learned in Beginning Orchestra class. Instruments may be purchased or rented from local music dealers. Performances are mandatory and are part of the overall grade in this class.
 
8th Grade Concert Orchestra
 
Completes Level III as specified in the Orchestra Curriculum. Performances are mandatory and are part of the overall grade in this class. Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation.

Beginning MS Guitar - 7th and 8th grades


This course is designed as a foundation for the beginning guitar student.  Students will learn and develop techniques and skills to play in ensembles and individually.  Students will learn to play from both traditional and tablature notation, and will play both melodic and chordal material in a variety of styles. Performances are required outside of class.
