Start Times:  Bon Air Elementary will be operating on the early start time schedule beginning this fall.  The official school day is from 7:45 AM-2:15 PM.The doors will open to students at 7:35, and the tardy bell will ring at 7:45.  Dismissal will occur promptly at 2:15. Our school office hours are from 7:15-3:15. More information related to the change in start times can be found below under transportation.

Theme:  Each year Bon Air Elementary has a theme that depicts the focus for our staff and school for the year.  This year we wanted our theme to reflect the wonderful community that exists at Bon Air Elementary and within the Bon Air community as a whole.  One of the greatest strengths of our school and community are our relationships with each other, and we are excited to focus on strengthening these relationships this year.  Our theme for the 2018-2019 school year will be: Growing a village, one relationship at a time.

Transportation: The Bon Air bus routes have been posted.  Click here to see the bus routes. Please check back weekly for updates throughout the month of August and September. 

Volunteering:  We are so fortunate to have numerous parents who volunteer for us in many different roles.  If you plan to be a field trip chaperone, classroom helper, or volunteer for our school in other ways this year, please fill out the online Chesterfield County Public Schools volunteer application.  To access this form, please click here. Involved parents are critical to a school’s success!

YMCA After School Program:  This year the YMCA will be hosting an after school program at Bon Air Elementary.  For more information or to sign your child up for this program, please click here.

Ms. Ashley Buck, in her first year as an Exceptional Education teacher, has been named the First Year Teacher of the Year, not just for Bon Air Elementary but for the whole county!  Woohoo!

Bon Air's First Pre-K: There are slots still open!

The Bon Air PTA needs your help….really, we do!

For the next school year, 2018-2019, we are in need of many people to fill open positions. The Bon Air Elementary School PTA is a 501-c-3 non- profit organization run solely by volunteers. We fund, sponsor, and organize many programs for your children and the school throughout the year. And we hope you can help!

 

Open Positions for 2018-2019:

 

5K Committee - looking for a few people to take over this wonderful Bon Air tradition. Help needed in many areas: getting sponsors, t-shirt design, course set up and take down, organizing sign up website, the breakfast and more. This is our second biggest fundraiser and we are in jeopardy of losing it if we don’t find volunteers to take it over!

 

Village Fair Committee -help needed in many areas: t-shirt sales, volunteer coordinator, marketing, games & inflatables, prizes, finding sponsors…. Lots of openings that can be done by working parents at night 

 

Village Fair Silent Auction Committee- We need some people with spreadsheets skills that are organized and good at getting auction items for VF!  If we do not have a silent auction lead by the end of June, we most likely will not be able to have a silent auction at the fair this fall. That would reduce our profits by $8000! This role can be done by working parents at night 

 

Beautification- taking care of the potted plants outside of school. Time commitment - a few hours a school year

 

Facebook & Twitter– keep our followers up to date on the happenings at BAES. Time commitment - an hour a week & can be done from home

 

Moms & Muffins/Dads & Donuts- coordinating these events by purchasing food, set up & break down and getting volunteers.

 

Council & District Delegate– serves as a liaison to the Chesterfield County PTA by attending their meetings

 

Grandparents Day- always the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. This position organizes volunteers, food and beverages for the visiting family members in the gym. 

 

Hospitality- these volunteers are in charge of organizing various breakfasts and lunches for the staff throughout the school year, organizing Teacher Appreciation Week and making sure all the special days (Administrative Assistants Day, Bus Driver Appreciation Day, etc…) are covered as well.

 

Newsletter- organize articles from PTA committee members into a newsletter form. This year we did an online version. Can be done at home by a working parent.

 

Spirit Wear- in charge of making flyers, ordering & distributing the Bon Air Eagle swag for our school!

 

Student Directory- need someone with spreadsheet skills! Organize the student info into a handy directory

 

Website- our very neglected Bon Air PTA website needs lots of TLC! Can be done at home by a working parent.

 

Open positions for the 2019-2020school year:

 

Almost the entire executive board will be up for re-election next spring, so if you are interested in the position of President, Vice President in charge of Fundraising, Vice President in charge of Programs or Treasurer, please contact us for more information.

The Bon Air PTA loves this school and wants to do as much as we can for it! But we cannot do it without help from volunteers. If we don’t have volunteers to fill positions, many committees are in jeopardy of being eliminated.  

 

Everyone is always welcome to come to a PTA board meeting to check things out – the next one is June 5that 6:30pm in the Library.  And the next General Membership meeting is June 12that 6:30pm before the 4thgrade Recorder Rally.

"Stepping Up" Robious Middle School 2018

Calling all rising 6th grade students!  It’s time to STEP UP and get ready for your time at Robious Middle School.  Time to STEP UP to the next level in school, and shed those elementary school colors for some “Raider” red and black!

“Stepping Up” is a one day program designed to ease the transition to middle school and to ensure that students have the skills necessary to succeed at Robious Middle School.

Stepping Up has three main goals:

  1. Students will develop positive relationships with teachers & other students.

  2. Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with the school building and school procedures.

  3. Students will develop skills to help them succeed in middle school.

Stepping Up is filled with many activities that students will enjoy; such as: school tour and scavenger hunt, “getting to know you” activities, how to open a locker, how to work with your school counselor, teacher expectations, how to follow a student schedule, and more!  Students will also learn about clubs, dances, homework, dress code, and general school procedures.


Choose one: Session 1:  Tuesday, August 7 Session 3: Thursday, August 16

                     Session 2: Tuesday, August 14 Session 4: Tuesday, August 21


Time:  9:00 am – 2:00 pm


Cost:  

$38.00** non-refundable.  Registration begins May 7 through June 22.  Parents are strongly encouraged to register and pay online at https://goo.gl/forms/0mgG1yAN0Cb3mxii1.  Registration can also be done in person between 8:30am and 2pm in the front office at Robious Middle. Checks should be made payable to Robious Middle School.  (Spaces may be limited.) The cost includes dri-fit T-shirt, drawstring bag, lunch, and the chance to have fun and meet new friends and much, much more.

¡Atención estudiantes que van a estar en nivel sexto el año siguiente!  Es la hora para STEP UP y prepararte para tu tiempo en Robious Middle School.  Es la hora para STEP UP al nivel siguiente en la escuela, y para quitar los colores de su escuela primaria para el rojo y negro de los “Raiders”.

“Stepping Up” un programa de día que es diseño para aliviar la transición a middle school y para asegurar que los estudiantes tienen todas las habilidades que necesitan para tener éxito en Robious Middle School.

Stepping Up tiene tres metas importantes:

  1. Los estudiantes van a desarrollar relaciones positivas con los maestros y otros estudiantes.

  2. Los estudiantes van a tener la oportunidad para acostumbrarse con el edificio y las normas de la escuela.

Original Works PTA Fundraiser

Original Works is a PTA fundraiser that features your child's artwork on products such as mugs, keychains, tote bags and many other options. Keep an eye out in your child's backpack - you should be getting the packet with the artwork & order form today or tomorrow!  Details are attached below. 

Orders are due next Wednesday, April 18. Remember to send the artwork back with the completed order form and payment(cash or check-made out to Bon Air PTA). These products make great gifts for Mother's Day or Father's day! Orders should be in by May 11, right before Mother's Day.

The Spring Book Fair and Food Truck Fest is Tuesday, April 17 at BAES.

The Book Fair is in the gym from 4pm to 7pm. The Food Truck Fest is from 5pm to 7pm in the carpool loop featuring Boardwalk, Dank Eats, Go Go Vegan Go and Kona Ice. The cafeteria will be open for a place to eat dinner, as well as a few picnic tables outside. 

Also that night in the gym, there will be a Bon Air PTA General Membership Meeting at 5:45pm and a Minds in Motion Performance by 4th grade at 6pm.
