Nov. 11 Weekly Update

posted Nov 11, 2018, 1:56 PM by Lee Newman

Dear Bon Air Families,

We had a great week at Bon Air Elementary!  Please click here to see a video with some exciting highlights from this past week.

We would like to give a special thank you to Girl Scout troop 104 for the stencil art they added to our storm drains in the front of our building at BAES.  Be sure to check them out the next time you stop by!

We have REALLY amazing student leaders at Bon Air Elementary!  Below is information from some of the fantastic projects they are leading.

Dear parents, our school is donating soda bottle tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. Please remind your kids to bring them in. Thank you, Danny Arel and River Klammer

Hello,

My name is Austin Smoyer, and I am in Mr. Zulauf’s fourth grade class.  As many of you know, every December I do a food drive. I make fliers and pass them out to people in our community and collect as much food as I can for FeedMore.  Sadly, one in six children in central Virginia do not receive the necessary nutrition. I have been doing my food drives since I was three years old, and with the help of my community, have collected over 10,000 pounds of food during this time.

This year, I am asking our Bon Air community to help.  Please drop off any non-perishable (no glass) items to our school anywhere between Monday, December 3rd through Wednesday, December 19th.  Boxes will be labeled in our school for drop off. Thank you for pitching in and helping to make such a HUGE difference in our community this holiday season!

Sincerely,

Austin Smoyer

Girl Scout Troop 94 is having a winter clothes drive. The reason we are having one is because we have handed out blessing bags to homeless people and the first thing they have been interested in was the socks. Since winter is coming we are collecting NEW, ADULT socks, gloves, and hats. We are trying to collect 500 items to help the homeless people of our community. Please put your items in the box in the front lobby before December 14.
