Flu Season

The peak of flu season is upon us! We have several confirmed cases reported to our school. To prevent widespread flu, we recommend that your child stay home if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. The following guidelines may help you decide whether or not to send your child to school:

Feb 22 Last Day to Order a Yearbook

Parents, place your yearbook order now! The deadline for Yearbook Purchases is, Friday, Feb 22, 2019. Yearbooks are $30 each and may conveniently ordered online. There will be no exceptions to this final deadline and additional yearbooks WILL NOT BE available for purchase after Friday. We encourage you to order online Yearbook Online Order Here so that you have a record of your transaction. 

February is Kindness Month

Smith Elementary is celebrating Kindness Month during the month of February. To celebrate, we will have activities everyday during the week of Feb 11th to encourage students to express kindness in different ways. Watch for other acts of kindness and activities throughout the month. A Big Thank you to Ms. Duval for planning our activities!

  • Mon  Feb 11: Hat Day! Hats off to kindness!
  • Tues Feb 12: Crazy Socks Day! What would it feel like to walk in someone else's shoes or socks?
  • Wed Feb 13: Super Hero Shirt Day! Be a hero and save someone's day!
  • Thu Feb 14: Have a Heart Day! Have a heart and wear red or pink.
  • Fri Feb 15: Shark Spirit Wear Day! We are a team that works together

Parent Shark Bytes Weekly News Letter

Each week Mrs. Kline and Dr. Marshall will be sending out a parent newsletter called Parent Shark Bytes. The message will contain pertinent school information and a calendar of upcoming events. Please watch for these on Sunday evenings. A copy will be posted here each week for your convenience.

Volunteer Applications Online

Anyone interested in volunteering in our school system must complete a volunteer application online and scan their driver's license in our Raptor security system. No paper applications will be accepted for volunteer service. Please complete your application using the link below. Volunteer Forms are required for Field Trip Chaperones, Watch D.O.G.S., Library Readers, Cafeteria or Classroom Helpers and PTA Board Members. If you do not have access to a computer at home, we will have a computer available in the school for your use. The current approval process may take several weeks due to current influx of applications. Please complete your application early. Confirmation emails will be sent once the approval is in place. 

Online School Payments

Online School Payments is the easy way to pay fees for student field trips and activities.  Check the OSP website  for information regarding your child's upcoming activity. To access the event list, click on Elementary schools and select Alberta Smith Elementary. Payment information is secure and sends an automatic email of your payment to the school. 

Parent Vue for Grades 2 thru 5

Student interim reports and grades for students in grades 2 through 5 are available online. Student grades can be viewed on ParentVue at anytime through a web browser or on the ParentVue phone app. Parents should login to ParentVue Link and click on the grade book tab on the left of the screen to view grades. The Grade Book summary opens to reflect current scores.  Individual assignments can be viewed by clicking on the name of the subject in the subject area column. Activation codes were sent home during Back to School Night. Please contact the school office if you need an activation code.
