"Protecting Your Child Online" is the topic of the next Carroll County Parent Connect meeting, sponsored by Carroll County Public School Division (CCPSD) and St. Paul Elementary School PTO.
“We are very pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to our parents and staff. It will give our parents education on the best techniques to protect their children online, ” said CCPSD Licensed Professional Counselor, Denice Olinger.
In a Webwise survey conducted to mark Safer Internet Day, parents named the things concerning them the most in relation to their child being online. Four main risks emerged, with 21% saying cyberbullying is their biggest worry; 20% said their child spending too much time online is the gravest issue; 20% worried about their child being groomed or sexual exploited online, and 19% of parents listed “accessing pornographic content” as their deepest concern.
The presenters will be Bobbie Jo Marshall and Gator King, SRO.
“Topics for this session will include dangers on the internet, cyber bullying, online predators, sharing too much information, and disturbing content.” said Olinger.
The Carroll County Parent Connect evening program will be at St. Paul Elementary School on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. A free meal will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria The program for parents, guardians, grandparents, and community members will begin at 6:30 p.m. A Chrome Tablet will be given away as a door prize.
