I am currently a post-doc at the University of Fribourg.

My research studies totally disconnected locally compact groups through their interaction with certain geometric and harmonic analytic objects. The geometric objects involved are CAT(0) spaces and their various compactifications (i.e., trees, buildings, symmetric spaces, resp., horofunction and Chabauty compactifications), as well asĀ  masures (a generalisation of affine buildings). From the harmonic analytic point of view I study the Howe-Moore property, and the Hecke algebras and Gelfand pairs associated with locally compact groups. Those concepts relate the ergodic theory of locally compact groups to the theory of unitary representations.
