Every day I get all kinds of interesting mail!  Keep an eye on this page to see what has come across my desk lately.  You may find something that interests you.

Horatio Alger Scholarship 2019

Students interested in enrolling in Career and Technical Education programs for Fall 2019 are invited to apply for the Horatio Alger Association Career & Technical Scholarship Program.

The Association will be awarding over 1,000 scholarships in 2019!  Amounts vary depending on the length of the program and need of the student.

To be eligible for the Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship Program, applicants must fulfill specific criteria, including:
  • Have completed high school by May 2019.
  • Be enrolled in a 2-year or technical certificate program for Fall 2019.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
To apply, visit application.horatioalger.org .  The first priority deadline is June 15, 2019.

Alabama Lions Leadership Forum 2019

This year's Alabama Lions High School Leadership Forum is scheduled for June 21-23, 2019 at Troy University.  Applications are now available for high school students.  Students may download the application form attached below or apply online at www.ALHSLF.org Paper applications are due to Mrs. Yearwood by May 3rd.

The ALHSLF is a three day leadership forum for high school students in Alabama. 

(Transportation and registration scholarships are often offered by our local Lions Club.  See Mrs. Yearwood for details.)

Kids' Chance Scholarship 2019

The Kids' Chance Scholarship Fund offers a scholarship opportunity for students to college and technical school programs who have had a parent killed or permanently and totally disabled in an on-the-job accident.  

Qualified candidates may apply at www.alfinc.org .

The deadline for submitting applications is May 1st.  

Lioness Scholarship 2019

The Cullman Lioness Club will be awarding three (3) $1,000 college scholarships to deserving seniors.  (Preference will be given to students who are affiliated in some manner to the Lions, Lioness, or Leo Clubs.)

Applications are available for download below and can also be found in the Guidance hallway shelves.  Applications are due to Mrs. Yearwood on or before April 3, 2019.

Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship Program 2020

The Distinguished Young Women of Cullman County Committee, formerly Cullman County's Junior Miss Committee, has announced plans for the 2020 program.  

This year's program will be held on June 29, 2019.

Rotary Club Scholarship 2019

The Cullman Rotary Club will be awarding two (2) scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each.  The Rotary motto is "Service Above Self," so they are looking for students who have been active in community service.

To apply for these scholarships, students must complete the application and requested information.  Applications are due to Mrs. Yearwood by March 18, 2019 for transcripts and mailing.

2019 ASCE (Civil Engineering) Scholarship

The Birmingham Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is offering a scholarship to high school seniors throughout Central Alabama.  The scholarship is restricted to students who attend a civil engineering program at a university or college in Alabama.


The deadline to apply is in March.  Applications are due to Mrs. Yearwood by March 15, 2019 for mailing and transcripts.

Bates Masonic Scholarship 2019

The 2019 Bates Masonic Scholarship is now available. See attached forms to apply or pick up a copy in the guidance hallway shelves.

The Scholarship Committee requires that the following information be provided.  All elements, documents, and supporting information requested shall be reviewed and scored by the Awards Committee.  It is to be noted that if any of the below information is omitted or incomplete, your application will not be considered.

1. Proper completion of all forms

2. GPA and class standing

3. ACT scores

4. Listing of community involvement

5. Listing school activities and participation.

6. Educational and career objectives and goals

7. Financial need

8. Name of College/University

9. Letters of recommendation from three sources, written on letterhead stationery. These letters shall be from (a) the Principal of the school, (b) the student’s teacher of his or her chosen major, and (c) one other reputable source, e.g. a minister, youth director, or employer.

10. Must reside in and attend a school in Cullman County.

See attached for more details.  If sending completed application through the guidance office, all components must be submitted to Mrs. Yearwood by May 17, 2019.

ALSPRA Scholarship 2019

The Alabama School Public Relations Association is a statewide coalition of professional school communicators. ALSPRA offers financial support to students who plan to enroll in an Alabama college or university after high school graduation and who plan to seek a degree in communication, public relations or a related field. Student members who are eligible may apply for the education scholarship program offered at the beginning of each calendar year and awarded at the annual ALSPRA Conference in mid-Spring.

The deadline for the 2019 ALSPRA Student Scholarship is February 22, 2019.
