The Cullman Band Association membership is made up of the band directors from the Cullman County, Cullman City, and St. Bernard Preparatory School.
The Cullman Band Association strives to make music an important part of our students lives.
The Cullman County Honor Band is just one of the ways in which we provide an opportunity for our students to learn and experience music with other students and guest conductors.
This site contains information for both the students and band directors to use to prepare for participation in the Cullman County Honor Band.
Tryout Requirements
Wind Instruments:
High School: Play from memory three chromatically adjacent major scales and their arpeggios (one octave all instruments).
Middle School: Concert Bb, Eb, Ab, & F Major scales and their arpeggios (one octave all instruments).
ALL Grades Play from memory the concert Bb chromatic scale one octave.
Prepared piece.
Percussion Instruments:

- Long Roll (Double Stroke)
- Orchestral Buzz Roll
- Paradiddle

Mallet Percussion:
1. Play three (3) chromatically adjacent major scales with their related arpeggios, (Scales are to be played 2 octaves with arpeggio in steady eighth notes)
2. Concert Bb Chromatic scale 2 octaves

4:00 - 5:30 Rehearsal
5:30 - 6:30 Dinner
6:30 - 9:00 Rehearsal
Friday
8:30 - 11:30: Rehearsal
11:30 - 1:00: lunch (on your own)
1:00 - 3:00: Rehearsal
3:00 - 4:00: Run through
6:00: Warm-up for concert
6:30: Concert
Student Information
Cost $10
All auditions will be done online by video recording. All auditions will be due January 13th, 2025 @11:59pm.
The senior high band will rehearse on the auditorium stage in the Student Union Building.
The junior high band will rehearse in the band room.
Arrive early to every rehearsal.
Be prepared with reeds, mutes, pencils etc.
Do not chew gum.
Be respectful of the campus and help keep it clean.
Bring money for Thursday night dinner and Friday lunch.
Make sure your ride is on time when the Thursday & Friday rehearsals dismiss.
Wear your uniform to the concert (Medals are acceptable).
For each hour of rehearsal missed, you move down one chair!
Make at least one new friend this weekend and HAVE FUN!
