Mrs. Smith

My name is Caroline Smith and I teach 5th grade math and science here at Brookwood Elementary School! This is my first year teaching 5th grade and I am beyond excited (and probably as anxious as the kiddos are to start 5th grade)!! I've previously taught 4th grade (for 5 years) and 6th grade (for 2 years). I've heard 5th grade is the best grade to teach, so I'm excited to see how true that statement is!

Throughout the year, I will post helpful information to this website. I'll update the site often, so please make sure you check the different pages of this website frequently. I will share important dates, 5th grade information, math tips, notes, and lesson information. Science information, vocabulary and notes will also be posted to this website!

A few fun things about me:

  • I was born in New York and I've lived in 6 states (NY, MA, SC, NC, AL, GA).
  • I have 3 sisters, 3 brothers-in-law, 2 nephews, 3 nieces, and a mom and dad who are still married after 35 years :)
  • I moved 18 times before I graduated high school...and I'm NOT from a military family!
  • I'm married to my high school sweetheart, Christopher.
  • I have one fur-baby, Macallan. He's the fluffiest dog you'll ever met, and vacuuming that amount of fur is no fun.
  • I also teach online for VIPKID.
  • I've been told I have a dry sense of humor.
  • I love coffee, working out, water bottles (the bigger the better), reading, comfy socks, pajamas, rainy days, sweatshirts, and lounging on the couch watching TV with my husband.
  • I think witty hashtags, relevant Bitmojis, and Gifs can make anything hilarious. #amiright?
  • "Family chats" with my students are my absolute favorite part of my day. I love forming relationships with my students and getting to know them. My students are THE REASON I love teaching as much as I do!

The loves of my life!

Is there a cuter (or fluffier) dog?
