Accents - How to Type

Below are five ways to put accented letters in a document.

A. How to type accents in Google docs:

1. On the toolbar at the top of the document, click "Insert".

2. Choose "Special characters".

3. Change "Symbol" to "Latin".

4. Find the letter with the accent you need, click on it, then OK.

5. It should now be in your document!

B. Google Input Tools
There is a Chrome extension called Google Input Tools you can use to quickly help with typing.  It is a little glitchy, and you may want to turn it off when you don't need it.  When you have it turned on, make sure you set it to French.  While you type, it gives you a pop-up box (like autocorrect does) with options.  Be sure to choose the correct option.

C. Click here for a text box where you can type your text, then copy-paste it anywhere you need it!

D. Windows alt codes (only work on a non-Chrome OS)

E. Keyboard shortcuts for international characters:

For keyboard shortcuts in which you press two or more keys simultaneously, the keys to press are separated by a plus sign (+) in Microsoft Word Help. For keyboard shortcuts in which you press one key immediately followed by another key, the keys to press are separated by a comma (,). To type a lowercase character using a key combination that includes the SHIFT key, hold down the CTRL+SHIFT+symbol keys simultaneously, and then release them before typing the letter.
