I would like to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of Cayucos Elementary School District. It is a privilege and an honor for me to be here. As a graduate of Cayucos School, it is a dream come true to be appointed as Superintendent. I want to thank the Board of Trustees for this opportunity to be the team leader of such a wonderful staff. I have already come to recognize the amazing care the staff has for students. I can tell they truly enjoy serving the young people of Cayucos. Many of you may be wondering about my background so I want to share a little with you about who I am. I was born in the no longer existing General Hospital in San Luis Obispo. I lived in Cayucos until I was twenty two years old. I am a proud graduate of Cayucos Elementary School and Coast High School. My career in education started as a middle school teacher. I enjoyed teaching Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies during that time. I then became a Middle School Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, Middle School Principal, Director of Special Education, Executive Director of Human Resources and most recently Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services. As Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, I supervised the Human Resources Department, Finance Department, English Learner and Migrant Department, Student Services Department, Special Education Department, Middle School Principal, and Facilities, Maintenance, Operations and Transportation Department. I believe that my varied experiences in school administration will help me serve here as Superintendent. I am committed to partnering with all stakeholders to ensure Cayucos Elementary School District is the best it can possibly be. It is clear to me that Cayucos School enjoys a tremendous amount of community support. I look forward to meeting many of you over the coming months.

School Climate - How to Make a Difference!
Did you know that statistically with regards to bullying in schools, 8% of the students could be described as aggressors and 7% as the targets. That leaves 85% of the students, not only as the bystanders, but more importantly as the critical mass needed to make positive changes. If the students who are part of the 85% learn to speak up, put a stop to unkind behavior, and report it to an adult when they see it, we can expect to create a strong culture of kindness, inclusion, and empathy. Talk to your children about how to stand up to bullying and unkindness. Role model situations with them. Make sure they have several adults in mind who they are comfortable reporting issues to. See Mr. Smith, Ms. Villalobos, or Mrs. Francis for more information if needed. Thank you!
