Career & Technical Education
I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2014 with a degree in Business Education. I began my teaching career in the Fall of 2015 with Catawba County and am currently a part of the CTE department at Maiden Middle School. In the past I have taught Personal Finance, Principles of Business and Finance, Business Management, Business Law, Accounting I and Accounting II. Prior to teaching I spent 20 years in the United States Air Force where I worked as an air traffic controller.
I have been a teacher since September 2004 and have worked my entire teaching career as a Business teacher with St. Stephens High School. I received my master’s degree in Educational Media from Appalachian State University and my bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Lenoir-Rhyne University. I bring my real world background in both programming and website design into the classroom.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Educational Media from Appalachian State University. I have been teaching for 19 years and 16 of them have been with Catawba County Schools at Maiden High. During my tenure, I have taught Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access, Honors Multimedia and Web Page Design, Honors e-Commerce 1, Digital Media, Final Cut Pro, and AP Computer Science Principles. I also taught an online class at CVCC for several years. I have been the Beta Club advisor for 16 years and the National Technical Honor Society Club for three years. I have my Microsoft Office Specialist credentials in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
