Agriculture's roots have always run deep in Catawba County!  Many years ago students enrolled in the agriculture program at Bandys High School began promoting this vast and diverse industry by hosting a small petting zoo for their classmates.  Over time this has evolved to an outstanding educational opportunity for individuals of all ages and backgrounds!  Hosted and organized by the members of the Bandys FFA Chapter, Ag Day provides visitors with the chance to interact with livestock and companion animals, horticultural displays and various demonstrations within the field of agriculture!  Whereas once, only students at Bandys reaped the benefits of the day, the organization has worked extensively to make the day a great opportunity for all ages to learn about the industry.  From the smallest of children to their great-grandparents there are many things to see and do!

Agriculture provides almost everything we eat, use, and wear on a daily basis, and is increasingly contributing to fuel and other bio-products. Help celebrate the valuable contributions of American agriculture by joining us to celebrate Ag Day!  Our hope is that attendees will be able to do the following:

• Understand how food, fiber, and renewable resource products are produced.

• Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.

• Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.

• Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food, fiber and renewable resource industries.
