Potential At-Risk Maps and Information


The following are the potential at-risk maps produced during the Arkansas Resource Assessment - Phase I. The NRCS definition of the natural resource concern and the input layers and land use designation weights that were used for modeling the natural resource concern within the Livestock Production Limitations Resource Concern are listed to the right of each map. More detailed maps are available by clicking the link below each map.

There were three natural resource concerns listed under the Livestock Production Limitations Resource Concerns; the three resource concerns were addressed identically and therefore have the same results. None of the natural resource concerns under the Livestock Production Limitations Resource Concern were selected for Priority Area designation at this time.

Inadequate Feed and Forage;
Inadequate Livestock Shelter and Water


    NRCS Definition:
        Inadequate Feed and Forage: Feed and forage quality or quantity is
        inadequate for nutritional needs and production goals of the kinds and
        classes of livestock.

        Inadequate Livestock Shelter: Livestock lack adequate shelter from
        climatic conditions to maintain health or production goals.

        Inadequate Livestock Water: Quantity, quality, and/or distribution of
        drinking water are insufficient to maintain health or production goals for
        the kinds and classes of livestock.

    Land Use Designation Weights:
        Pasture (Weight 2); Crop, Forest, Range, Urban, and
        Assoc. Ag (Weight 1); Water (Weight 0)

    Binary Input Layers and Associated Weights:
        – Fire Ant Quarantine Areas (Weight 1)

    Classified Input Layers and Associated Weights:
        – Number of Animal Units by County
            < 25,000 (Weight 0)
            25,000 – 60,000 (Weight 1)
            70,000 – 100,000 (Weight 2)
            125,000 – 190,000 (Weight 3)
