• Inefficient Energy Use

Potential At-Risk Maps and Information

The following are the potential at-risk maps produced during the Arkansas Resource Assessment - Phase I. The NRCS definition of the natural resource concern and the input layers and land use designation weights that were used for modeling the natural resource concern within the Inefficient Energy Use Resource Concern are listed to the right of each map. More detailed maps are available by clicking the link below each map.

Equipment and Facilities

    NRCS Definition:
Inefficient use of energy in the farm operation increases dependence on
non-renewable energy sources that can be addressed through improved
energy efficiency and the use of on-farm renewable energy sources.
As an example, this concern addresses inefficient energy use in pumping
plants, on-farm processing, drying, and storage.

    Land Use Designation Weights:
        Crop (Weight 3); Pasture (Weight 2);
Forest, Range, Urban, Assoc. Ag (Weight 1); Water (Weight 0)

Classified Input Layers and Associated Weights:
        – Grain Storage Capacity, Drying and Handling by County
            < 1,000,000 (Weight 1)
            1,000,000 – 6,600,000 (Weight 2)
            7,000,000 – 16,000,000 (Weight 3)
        – Irrigation Pumps by 8-digit HUC
            < 1 (Weight 0)
            1 – 1,281 (Weight 1)
            1,282 -4,691 (Weight 2)
            4,692 – 8,701 (Weight 3)

Farming/Ranching Practices and Field Operations
