The laboratory is equipped with two rigs. The first is a Nikon Eclipse Ti/C100plus inverted confocal microscope system configured specifically for live experiments. It is equipped with a continuous reflective-interface feedback focus device (or “perfect focus system”) to find and maintain focus over the long periods of time-lapse imaging. This system has three lasers and DIC imaging capabilities.
Our second system is an Olympus BX51 microscope equipped with a Burleigh fixed stage, Sutter MP285 micromanipulators and an Axon patch-clamp amplifier (MultiClamp 700B) and Digidata 1440A DAQ. It is configured for simultaneous patch-clamp electrophysiology, fast CCD fluorescence imaging (QImaging) and IR-DIC imaging (Dage).
