Travel by car: Hotel Parking is $40/day.
Travel by Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)
The Congress Plaza Hotel is less than half a mile from two L train stops. As a major city its quite easy to just catch a cab from either L train stop to the hotel if you want to travel the bulk of the distance to downtown by train (without traffic) but decide it is too unpleasant to walk from the train to the hotel. A cab ride should be under $5 from either stop.
From Midway Airport:
Take the orange line to the Harold Washington Library stop. Walk east ~2 blocks down VanBuren and then turn right, hotel is less than 1.5 blocks on your right. The train ride is about 20 minutes and it should be a ~10 min walk to the hotel. If you’re willing to walk a little further you can also get off at Adams/Wabash (its an earlier stop, the train makes a loop around the downtown before getting to the library stop). This walk is about 1-1.5 blocks further. If you get off here, walk east to Michigan, (1 block) and then south 3.5 blocks to the hotel.
From O’Hare Airport:
Take the Blue line to Jackson, walk east to Michigan, and then turn right (south) to the hotel (about 2.5 blocks).
We will be staying right next to Grant Park and the Museum Campus, so it is an easy walk to the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum of Natural History, Art Institute of Chicago, Buckingham Fountain and, of course, the Adler Planetarium. If you’d like traditional night life, Buddy Guy’s Legends, a blues club, is just a couple blocks walk from the hotel (at Wabash and 8th St). If you follow Michigan Ave north towards the river, you can see the new Millennium Park or take a ride on a Wendella tour boat along the river and lake.
