To commemorate National Cyber Security Awareness month, the Office of Information Security is releasing the SANS Institute’s “Securing the Human” video training series to the campus, and will be conducting several events throughout the month of October to raise the information security awareness of students, faculty and staff at CWRU.
“Securing the Human” is a series of 28 short, high-definition video modules that seek to educate viewers on information security as it pertains to their personal and professional lives. CWRU staff will receive an invitation to use the training through email. Faculty and student employees are invited to request an account through the subscription form. Faculty who are interested in learning more are encouraged to attend the UCITE meeting on Thursday, October 6, from 12pm to 1pm in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Library.
Researchers, faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to attend a seminar on current threats to intellectual and technological property. Guest speakers, FBI Special Agents Michael Maltbie and Michael Brian, will discuss these threats and outline how the counter-intelligence program under the FBI's College and University Security Effort (CAUSE) will coordinate with CWRU. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 11 at 2PM in Nord 310.
All CWRU personnel and students, especially users of social media, are invited to attend "Social Networks: 5 Threats and 5 Ways to Use Them Safely," presented by SecureState, LLC, on Tuesday, October 25th from 2PM to 3PM in Nord 310.
All university personnel are welcome to join ITS for a presentation of the online EDUCAUSE Annual Conference on Wednesday, October 19, through Friday, October 21 from 8AM to 12PM in Sears 221 (Kulas Music Hall). The presentation will focus on security-related topics, the conference keynotes and various other IT issues. The complete schedule is available here.
