The purpose of this announcement is to provide detailed instructions to better assist users with the recently announced end of support for Microsoft Windows Vista without SP2 (service pack 2) and Windows XP SP2.

Windows XP SP2 (or earlier) 32 bit Users
Information Technology Services (ITS) recommends that all 32-bit Windows XP users with Service Pack 2 (SP2), or earlier, upgrade to Windows XP SP3 using Windows Update or Upgrade to Windows 7 Enterprise (faculty & staff) or Windows 7 Ultimate (students) using the software center.
Windows Vista Users (no service packs)
ITS recommends that all Windows Vista users without any service packs upgrade to Windows Vista SP2 using Windows Update or Upgrade to Windows 7 Enterprise (faculty & staff) or Windows 7 Ultimate (students).
Windows XP SP2 (64 bit) Users
Customers who have a 64bit version of Windows XP with SP2 will continue to receive support from Microsoft through April 8, 2014.
