Have a talent or passion you could share to brighten someone's day? Love to tutor or work with children?
Wondering how you can make a difference while social distancing?

iConnect Program:

iConnect is run by the Cleveland non-profit organization, Greater Cleveland Neighborhood Centers Association, that has virtually connected elderly folks age 55+ to a variety of experiences/opportunities.

In these challenging times, this program has been expanded to reach older adults who are especially alone and vulnerable in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or individual apartments/homes. You are in a powerful position to combat depression and loneliness that much of the elderly population is currently struggling with.

The program is extremely flexible and they are happy to accommodate any "content" you would like to share. See the current schedule for more ideas. You can host one of these, or come up with your own!

Examples include:
  • Share your passion/talent: i.e. play piano/sing/provide music, read a story, conduct an art or craft activity, show off your pet, knit together, cook together, talk about sports!
  • Exercises: "Walk N’ Talk" (Lead a session where you and participants walk in place either sitting down or standing up), perform simple chair exercises, teach yoga
  • Virtual travel: Lead a tour via internet of a museum or a live tour where you are inside or outside at a site, take your attendees with you as you go for a walk.
  • Host sessions that are offered by other organizations that provide the content: You and participants can view and discuss the content. Example: Cleveland MetroParks Virtual Classroom.
  • Host a Trivia Game: prepare questions that individuals age 55+ may relate to or on academic, culture, sports or any other subject (probably not math!)

Dates
Mon - Fri  |  9:00 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
