Cascadia Irish Music Week

July 19-25, 2020 at The Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington

Plans are afoot for Cascadia 2020... we will be launching registration and our beautiful new website on January 1, 2020. Please bear with us as we transition our website during the next few weeks. Meanwhile, you'll find information here on our exciting 2020 faculty, pricing, etc.

Attendance at Cascadia 2019 was better than expected and we found ourselves with a healthy surplus. We're extremely grateful to our students for supporting Cascadia and we've decided to use the surplus to keep prices at the same level as last year, in spite of increased costs from the college. The cost for the full registration package - tuition, lodging and food - will stay the same at $985. The cost of classes only, for those staying off campus, will again be $510.  Other registration options will be available when we launch registration in January.  Thank you all!!!

Think of Irish traditional music as a language, and Cascadia Irish Music Week as an immersion program. At Cascadia you will hear the music all week long, played by the teaching staff and by fellow students. You'll play in sessions, attend classes, hear afternoon talks by the teachers plus intimate evening concerts. By the end of the week you'll come away with some new tunes and a deeper sense of how the music feels and sounds, as well as advice on technique from excellent musicians. All that plus a week of great fun with wonderful people!

Artistic Director

Randal Bays is well known in the worldwide Irish music community as a fiddler and guitarist. He's also famed as a teacher of Irish traditional music, who co-founded and served for ten years as Artistic Director of the Friday Harbor Irish Music Week in Washington's San Juan Islands. Calling on his knowledge of the music and the people in the traditional music world, each year Randal assembles a teaching staff for Cascadia Irish Music Week comprising some of the world's finest Irish musicians.

We will be offering both youth scholarships and adult scholarship packages this year. Details when we launch our new website in January, 2020
