Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment

TITLE VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

TITLE IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Section 504 of the rehabilitation Act of 1973

It is the policy of the Carter County School System not to discriminate on the basis of sex, race, national origin, creed, religion, age, marital status, or disability in its educational programs, activities, or employment policies as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

It is a violation of this policy for any student or employee of the school system to harass a student or an employee through conduct or communication in any form as defined by this policy.

COMPLAINT PROCEDURES

Any person who believes he or she has been the victim of harassment, or discrimination by a student or employee of the school system, or any third person with knowledge or belief of conduct that may constitute harassment, sexual harassment, or discrimination should report the alleged acts immediately to the school principal or the system coordinator. The school system encourages the reporting party or complainant to use the report form available from the principal of each school or available from the school system central office.
