About the Teacher


Julie Lowry holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in music from Shorter College and the University of Alabama.  She has performed in Russia, Italy and across the U.S. with orchestras and ensembles in opera, oratorio, and musical theater. Prior to serving as choral director and voice teacher for CHS, Lowry was a Professor of Music at Shorter College and the University of West Georgia. For 17 years combined, teaching language diction, voice techniques, musical theater, classical voice, and vocal pedagogy. 

Ms. Lowry has been a guest adjudicator for literary, all state and NATS competitions. Many of Lowry’s former private students majored in music at prestigious music programs across the state and the country. Lowry’s high school students have placed in NATS competition, chosen for All State Choir, earned superior ratings at festival, and earned awards at literary competition.  


Ms. Lowry is an IB Music teacher and looks forward to growing the IB music component. Ms. Lowry has lived in Carrollton for 16 years and has two daughters, Anna a freshman at CHS and Allison a 5th grader at CMS.
