About the Teacher

In 1996, after spending a number of years making good use of a degree in Journalism as a writer and designer in the printing and graphics industry, Mr. Lewis acquired a teacher certification and began instructing the new Graphic Communications classes at Carrollton High School. The CHS Graphic Communications lab earned
PrintED Certification in its first year and was the first in Georgia to be accredited as a digital lab. This certification is administered by the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation, and CHS Graphic Communications has maintained this accreditation since its inception.

Thanks to his Journalism training, Mr. Lewis soon added English 6-12 certification to his teaching certificate. He took the helm of Carrollton High's yearbook staff, which regularly produces a $60k yearbook on a $0 budget that, thanks to the staff's supreme dedication, is always attractive and always meets both its historical and financial obligations.

In testament to activities he enjoys outside of the classroom, Mr. Lewis has recently taken the lead as Advisor for both CHS First Priority and the CHS Outdoors Club. First Priority is a student-led weekly Bible study group whose mission is best stated in Colossians 2:8, "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." The Outdoors Club meets weekly to discuss skills, techniques and gear related to various outdoor activities. This club also attends monthly outings, typically short hikes on any of the area's beautiful trails.
