Pastor Gerald Castlebury
I was born on January 6th, 1952 and raised in Chesterfield county. My beautiful bride, Debbie and I have been married for 39 years and counting. We have three lovely daughters, Crystal, Betsy, Dawn married to Godly husbands.   We currently have 6 grandchildren.  We have made Caroline County our home since 1973.

I believe that God above created this world and sent His Son, Jesus, who died for our sins.  Jesus rose again and is now in heaven awaiting His return.  I believe the Bible is God's Holy Word and that Jesus is the Way for those that believe in Him for eternal life.

Youth Leaders

They are married to lovely wives, Jessica and Clarissa.

Fonville has lived in Caroline since 2002 and has served as a Youth Leader at Salem Baptist Church during that time as well as other positions including Sunday School teacher, preschool teacher, teller, greeter and more.  Her daughter, Amber lives in Hanover county with her husband, Doug.

Audie and Fonville were married in May, 2015 and cherish seven wonderful grandchildren between them ranging from a few months old to age 18.

We believe that a healthy youth ministry is a purpose driven one.  We strive to lead students ages 6th to 12th grade into life-changing relationships with Jesus Christ.

Music Director

Amanda Sweeney

Amanda is a Spotsylvania resident and has been the pianist for Carmel since 1998.  Amanda enjoys preparing the choir for weekly services along with her grandmother Gloria Quarles.
Amanda is married to her husband Elijah, and has a new son named Orrin.  A graduate of Liberty University School of Law, Amanda is a trial lawyer for Spotsylvania County.

Our choir is always seeking new members who love music!  We praise God for additional voices and love when people offer to play instruments or sing solos!
The choir meets at 10:30 each Sunday morning to prepare the selection for that day.

Amanda’s favorite hymn is the doxology.  “When something good happens in my life, when some problem is relieved with good news,
the doxology runs through my head, ‘Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow!’  God didn’t have to give us the gift of music, but he did so that we may praise him!”
