As we come to the end of our school year, I want to wish you all a very happy summer and thank you for all your support this year. We’ve had a wonderful year in Carlow Educate Together. Some of our highlights included earning our first Green Flag, becoming a Digital School of Distinction and finally raising enough money to buy our long awaited stage. So much has happened in our school that it’s impossible to list them all here. We’re also saying goodbye to 11 students as they move on to secondary school, 3 of which were the first students to complete 8 full years in our school. Lia, Greta and Courtney will go down in our history and we wish them and their classmates well as they move to second level.  Looking to next term, we’re looking forward to welcoming over 50 new Junior Infants. We’re also welcoming a number of new faces. Mark is coming to us from Kildare Educate Together after 7 years of teaching in a variety of settings. We’re also welcoming Cliona to the school who comes from Gorey Educate Together and has been teaching there for over 3 years. We also want to wish Sive well as she begins her career break and look forward to welcoming her back in a year or two. We also say goodbye to Cian for the moment and thank him for all his work with the children, especially his excellent soccer league, which proved very popular. Our current Parents’ Council is also coming to an end and new group will be beginning their term in September at the AGM. Rhonda has been chairperson of the Parents’ Group for nearly 4 years now and I will greatly miss her in that role. She will still be helping out around the school, especially in the library and I want to take the opportunity to thank her and all the parents who have come in week in, week out to run the library. Furthermore, I want to thank every family member who came into the school to work with the children. We love having parents in the school and not only do the children love seeing their parents and family, it gives parents a good insight to how a school works.  Anyway, I could go on and on for the rest of this newsletter so will end here. Have a great summer and keep happy, safe and learning.
