Lyssa is a person in long-term recovery from a substance use disorder. If you asked her, however, she would tell you that she is a person in long-term “discovery” since she is not recovering from something negative. Instead, she is UNCOVERING herself by peeling off that addictive mask and therefore DISCOVERING the authentic self!
Ever since her discovery journey has begun, she’s had a passion for helping others find their path to recovery, no matter what that may look like for them. She is a very strong promoter of multiple pathways to recovery. She is a Certified Recovery Life Coach as well as a Certified Peer Support Specialist. She is also a Certified Trainer of Recovery Coaches.
She is also the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Recovery Support Center where she facilitates educational/support meetings focusing on the brain science behind addiction and other tools to rewire your brain and take control of your life. She has facilitated SMART Recovery and 16-Step meetings. She has previously been a recovery coach for the Dave Gallup Foundation, a sober living house, and for the ED2 program.
Through advocacy, education, and compassion, she believes that all parts of the community can pull together and be a part of the solution!
