Let me introduce myself!

I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Languages at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.    It took me several years of working in the business world to realize what I really wanted to do with my life, and that is when I began my studies in School Psychology.  In 1985, I emigrated to the U.S. and spent eight years in Providence, RI.  While having my three children, I completed my Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology at Rhode Island College.  After a move to Pennsylvania, I completed a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in School Psychology through the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University.  My year- long internship was completed in Elementary, Middle and High Schools in both Providence, RI and Pittsburgh, PA.

Prior to becoming a school psychologist, I worked for several years in the field of advertising and retail buying in South Africa and Providence, RI.  In my current field, I have worked with children of all ages, from preschool through 12th grade.  Since I started in Canton in 2001, I spent eleven years at Cherry Brook Primary School before transferring to Canton High School, where I have been for the past 5 years.  It’s been a wonderful experience seeing all the students I worked with as young children at Cherry Brook, as young adults in the high school.  Working with adolescents makes me realize I have found my true calling!

Being from South Africa, where I spent most of my life outdoors because of the long summers, I always have the urge to mingle with nature.  My spare time is spent hiking, skiing, and riding my bike.  I also run regularly around the reservoir which is near my house, and also love to play my piano.  I very much enjoy the arts in all forms, including opera, theater and music performances in places such as the Berkshires and Tanglewood.  Being an immigrant and now an American Citizen, I have traveled widely throughout the world, and have family in South Africa, Australia and my parents’ home country of Austria.  I read a fair amount for pleasure and for professional purposes. My specific area of interest is neuropsychological assessment.  I look forward to working with your son or daughter!
