Canton Parents as Teachers

What is "Parents as Teachers"?

Kids Don't Come with Directions!

In the first few years, children learn more and at a faster pace than at any other time in life. You help shape your child's future through the kinds of experiences you provide. Your baby was born to learn, and as a parent, you are your child's first and most important teacher.

Canton Parents as Teachers (CPAT) is here to help you!

CPAT is an approved user of the Parents as Teachers curriculum. CPAT is a parent and child based developmental program serving all Canton Connecticut families throughout pregnancy until their child enters kindergarten.

Parents are supported by PAT Curriculum Trained Parent Educators educated to translate scientific information on early brain development into specific when, what, how and why advice for families. By understanding what to expect during each stage of development, parents can easily capture the teachable moments in everyday life to enhance their child's language, cognitive growth, motor skills and personal-social development.

The CPAT program provides personal visits, activity groups, resource networking and developmental screenings to any Canton family prenatally and/or with young children between the ages of birth to five.

This service is funded through Canton Schools and grants, Canton Community Health Fund, fees and donations.
