Mr. Jamie Wright, Candor High School Mathematics

Meet Mr. Wright
Hello. I would like to begin by welcoming everyone back from what I hope was an enjoyable and relaxing Summer Break. I am Mr. Wright and I am a High School Mathematics teacher here at Candor Jr/Sr High School. This my 5th year teaching, with all 5 being here at Candor. I graduated high school from Lansing High School in Lansing, NY. I then attended SUNY Oneonta and graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mathematics and earned my Masters Degree in Teaching from SUNY Cortland. I am also the Varsity Baseball coach here at Candor.

I have a passion for Mathematics, and have high expectations for each of my students. I honestly believe that if a student buys in to what we do in class, and do their part (attendance, notes, ask questions, homework, etc.), each and every one of them will be successful. It takes dedication to become successful at anything, including Math. I give homework almost every night, allowing time in class to work on homework and ask questions. I believe in building a firm and strong foundation. I am not a teacher who makes it through the book, just to say we made it through the book. I feel there are certain concepts in each class that are extremely important for success in higher level math classes and college math classes, and I focus on those topics.

Here at Candor, I teach Algebra 9, Algebra 10 and MATH 100. The links to each class are above and they will take you to each classes page and course description and class resources.

Homework: Each day, I will be adding homework assigned that day by 4:30 PM. Within each class sections "Unit of Study" link, there will be links to copies of the homework and notes from that day.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me and a few of my teaching philosophies. I hope that this web-page is a helpful resource for you. If you have any questions, my school number is (607)-659-5010 ext 2207 and my email is jwright@candorcs.org.

Thanks again,

Jamie Wright
