Miss Musgrove was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia. She grew up attending Campbell County schools and was a graduate of Brookville High School. She attended James Madison University, where she graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and her Master's in the Art of Teaching. This is her first year at LRES, and is so glad to be a Bee again. She began her career at Brookneal Elementary School, where she also taught second grade for 5 years. She has a 3 year old son, Nash, as well as two step-daughters, Gracie (13) and Addison (11). In her free time she loves to be outside, go to the pool, and spend time with her family! She's wanted to be a teacher since she was little and absolutely loves and has a passion for teaching second grade.

Mrs. Grant graduated from Radford University with a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree in Management and Marketing. After working for a Marketing Company for 2 years, she realized it was not her true calling. She was passionate about working with children, and decided to go back to school. She later obtained a Masters in Elementary Education from Liberty University. Mrs.Grant taught Pre-K for 6 years before making the switch to the public school system, where she taught 2nd grade at Perrymont Elementary. Mrs.Grant strives on providing students with a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment that allows students the opportunity to reach their full potential. As an educator, she not only loves teaching her students, she enjoys learning from them as well. Mrs.Grant and her husband Matt reside in Lynchburg with their two children, Kiley and Parker. When Mrs.Grant isn't teaching, she enjoys traveling, reading, swimming, and most importantly spending time with her family and friends.

Ms. Midkiff grew up in Clarksville, Virginia, on Buggs Island Lake. She came to Lynchburg when she attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (now Randolph College). This is her 12th year teaching, but her third year at Leesville Road Elementary. She previously taught 3rd grade and third grade at Perrymont Elementary. Second grade is her favorite though! Ms. Midkiff has a daughter who will turn 3 this school year. She enjoys quality time with family and friends, spending time outdoors, reading, helping others, and traveling.

Mrs. Thompson was born and raised in the state of Connecticut. She went to Lynchburg College in 1983 and graduated with a BS in Early Childhood Education in 1987. Upon graduation, she was employed by the Campbell County school system and has been teaching for 29 years. Her first eight years of teaching were at Concord Elementary School teaching third grade. Soon after, in 1986, she got married and started a family of her own. In 1990, Mrs. Thompson transferred to Leesville Road Elementary and continued teaching in the third grade before switching to second grade. Mrs. Thompson’s desire to teach stemmed from the impression of one of her high school teachers. Mrs. Thompson is dedicated to her students, furthering their education, and love for learning. She loves Helen Keller’s quote, "We are never really happy until we try to brighten the lives of others." Mrs. Thompson enjoys spending time: with her family, at sporting events, being outside, her dogs, and horses.

Mrs. Shepard is a native of Campbell County Schools where she graduated from Brookville High School in 1991. She then graduated from Lynchburg College in 1995 with an Early Childhood Education degree. Mrs. Shepard taught 4th grade in Danville City Schools during her first year of teaching, and she moved back to Lynchburg and married her husband Ted in 1996. She began teaching second grade at LRES that fall. Mrs. Shepard later taught 3rd grade for 13 years, and she is now back “home” in second grade. In 1998, Mrs. Shepard had her son, J.T.  He graduated from Brookville/CVCC in 2016. Mrs. Shepard has wanted to be a teacher since she was in second grade. She has always enjoyed helping others learn, and she believes that there is a light inside each of us that is meant to be shared.
