Meet Our Team

From Left to Right:

Miss Aasen graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Development. She then obtained a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. She loves teaching and hopes to instill a growth mindset in each child to help them succeed in both school and life. She had her first baby last April.   She has three beautiful Golden Retrievers named Candy,  Bennett, and Millie.  She enjoys going on long walks with her dogs and her husband. In her spare time she loves to travel, especially when it means she can go to the Outer Banks!

Mrs.Hinds has been teaching at Leesville Road for 19 years.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee, she and her husband worked and lived in many different states before settling down in Lynchburg.  During that time, she taught in Arizona, Tennessee, Connecticut, and Alabama.  She enjoys watching the children learn to read and gets excited about their accomplishments.  She is a world traveler who enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband and their two four-footed children named Higgins and Maggie.  She is also the proud mother of Cleo the Patagonian parrot.

Mrs. Pendell taught last year as a long-term substitute for Ms. Aasen.  We were lucky to get her as a permanent teacher in first grade.  She is so excited to teach first grade this year.  We as a first grade team are very happy to have her too!

Mrs.Stark has been teaching at LRES for 7 years.  Before that she was in Lynchburg City Schools for 13 years.   She is originally from Upstate, NY and graduated from Liberty University in 1997. She has two children and keeps very busy attending all their sporting activities.  In her spare time she loves to read and watch movies.

Mrs.Wills grew up in this area, graduating from Brookville High School in 1992. She then began studying Child Development at Lynchburg College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1996.  She also earned a Master’s Degree from Averett University in 2009. Miss Wills is attending VA Tech in the fall to pursue Educational Specialist degree.  She has currently been teaching twenty-two years.  Her first year was in Bedford County and the remaining years have been at LRES.  She has one son, whom she loves more than anything.  He begins his first year of college this fall.  She loves teaching because she enjoys challenges. She is challenged daily to ensure her students receive the absolute best instruction and that they master all the skills taught.  Mostly, she loves the students!  They awaken her soul and make her reach for more.  She always grows a little each year knowing they truly teach her as much or more than she could ever teach them!

The students have had a wonderful transition back to school.  Everyday the children will bring home their reading books to read each night.
Please listen to your child read each night.  Thanks so much for your support.
