Meet Our Team

From Left to Right:
Mrs. Stark, Mrs. Hinds, Miss Smith, Mrs. Wills, Ms. Aasen

Miss Aasen graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Development. She then obtained a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. She loves teaching and hopes to instill a growth mindset in each child to help them succeed in both school and life. She has two beautiful Golden Retrievers named Bennett and Millie.  She enjoys going on long walks with her dogs and her husband. In her spare time she loves to travel, especially when it means she can go to the Outer Banks!

Mrs.Hinds has been teaching at Leesville Road for 18 years.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee, she and her husband worked and lived in many different states before settling down in Lynchburg.  During that time, she taught in Arizona, Tennessee, Connecticut, and Alabama.  She enjoys watching the children learn to read and gets excited about their accomplishments.  She is a world traveler who enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband and their two four-footed children named Dixie and Maggie.  She is also the proud mother of Cleo the Patagonian parrot.

Miss Smith graduated from Longwood University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in May of 2016. She is from Forest, Virginia and graduated from Jefferson Forest High School in 2011. She is from a big family and loves to spend time with them and friends, taking trips to Smith Mountain Lake, and playing volleyball. She is eager to start her first year at Leesville Road and is excited to see the growth in her students each day and learn from them as well.

Mrs.Stark has been teaching at LRES for 4 years.  Before that she was in Lynchburg City Schools for 13 years.   She is originally from Upstate, NY and graduated from Liberty University in 1997. She has two children and keeps very busy attending all their sporting activities.  In her spare time she loves to read and watch movies.

Mrs.Wills grew up in this area, graduating from Brookville High School in 1992. She then began studying Child Development at Lynchburg College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1996.  She also earned a Master’s Degree from Averett University in 2009. She has currently been teaching nineteen years.  Her first year was in Bedford County and the remaining years have been at LRES.  She has one son, whom she loves more than anything.  He plays baseball for Brookville and that keeps her busy when she’s not teaching.   She loves teaching because she enjoys challenges. She is challenged daily to ensure her students receive the absolute best instruction and that they master all the skills taught.  Mostly, she loves the students!  They awaken her soul and make her reach for more.  She always grows a little each year knowing they truly teach her as much or more than she could ever teach them!
