8th graders will receive a High School credit for the Computer Applications course.
Materials: one three ring binder, loose leaf paper, pen or pencil, agenda

Grading Policy:
Grades are averaged with equal weight also including keyboard technique grades, keyboarding quizzes, computer classwork assignments, and Gmetrix PowerPoint Projects.

All students in Grade 8 will take a Certiport PowerPoint Test in the Spring which will count as a high school technology point.

All work is done in class. Although there is no homework, you are encouraged to practice keyboarding at home daily.

6th graders Computer Exploratory Curriculum

Keyboarding is an integral part of the sixth grade exploratory as students learn to key in alphanumeric data using correct touch-typing techniques.  At least half of the class time will be spent with practice on the keyboard.

Additionally, the students will explore several topics including but not limited to the following:
  • computer hardware and software components
  • the basic functions of a Windows Operating System
  • file management
  • the use of on-line resources
  • the basics of using the Internet
  • Internet Safety
  • Word processing
  • desktop publishing
