Retaining Wall Newbridge Hill Gunnislake

posted 19 Jun 2018, 07:58 by Calstock Parish Council

A section of highway retaining wall adjacent to the A390 on Newbridge Hill, near Gunnislake has been identified as being unstable.  In order to ensure highway safety for users of the A390, a temporary lane closure with a shuttle system will be put in place.

The temporary lane closure will remain in place whilst investigations and works are undertaken to initially make the wall safe.  Works to ensure the carriageway can be fully reopened will be identified and prioritised.  The CORMAC Engineering Services Laboratory in conjunction with Cornwall Council’s own officers will be undertaking investigations in the grounds of the private property above the wall on Thursday 21st June 2018 to identify the retained ground conditions.  It is currently anticipated that a permanent repair to the wall will be undertaken later in the year subject to the statutory approvals.

As The A390 is a commuter route, well used HGV route and the diversion route for Tamar Bridge we appreciate this will cause disruption and welcome your cooperation with any inconvenience caused.
