Bahasa Indonesia Proficiency Test

posted Mar 12, 2015, 12:09 AM by CalmICE Center

Europeans, North Americans ,Australians and many others expect newcomers and immigrants to speak the national language and to integrate into their societies. I believe that is the aim of the Bahasa Indonesia Language proficiency exam.

Starting this year, foreigners wishing to work in Indonesia will be required to pass a language proficiency exam.

The language proficiency exam will test foreigners´ abilities in Bahasa Indonesia, Indonesia´s national language. The proposed exam was first suggested by the Manpower and Transmigration Minister, Jacob Nuwa Wea, in 2003.

Minister of Labour M Hanif Dhakiri stated, “We hope that by February 2015 the revision will be complete and the Indonesian language proficiency test can be quickly implemented for foreign workers wishing to work in Indonesia.”

Foreign workers would have to complete the Test of Indonesian as a Foreign Language (ToIFL, which is currently being developed by the ministry along with the University of Indonesia’s Language Development Center.

The exam will be part of a new set of requirements that will determine the eligibility of a foreigner to work in the archipelago. It is included in the ongoing revision of a 2013 Manpower Ministry regulation.

Foundations of Management (FoM) Certificate Program

posted Jul 4, 2014, 1:11 AM by CalmICE Center

The new FoM certificate program provides essential knowledge and tools for new managers, supervisors, and leaders that are not yet ready to tackle the CM certification. The FoM is the product of a comprehensive Job Task Analysis study that identified the knowledge, skills, and abilities that new supervisors and managers need to perform competently in today's workplace. There are no eligibility requirements to participate in the FoM program. Participants register simply by purchasing the FoM program materials through ICPM's online store.

The FoM program comprises approximately 45 hours of learning and includes a custom-published FoM study manual (in print or e-book format), access to the ICPM e-Learning Center, and a 90-item exam to validate learning. The e-Learning Center includes multimedia learning resources to augment the study manual and practice exams. Registrants can complete the FoM program as self-directed study or group instruction. Participants who successfully complete the coursework and pass the comprehensive FoM exam receive a certificate of completion to document their achievement.

The FoM exam consists of 90 multiple choice questions that assess new manager competencies validated by ICPM's Job Task Analysis . The proctored exam is administered online and closed-book through the ICPM e-Learning Center and is time-limited to a maximum of 90 minutes. The FoM exam must be taken within 12 months of registering for the FoM program. Exam results are reported as "pass" or "fail."  A failed exam can be retaken for a fee.

BiSOL - Bahasa Indonesia for Speakers of Other Languages

posted Jun 12, 2014, 6:02 AM by CalmICE Center

Why Bahasa Indonesia?

A lot of foreigners living in Indonesia sometimes as "Why should I learn Bahasa Indonesia?" "is it really important"
Well let us take time to answer this question for you.

Living in Indonesia can be so much fun and easier when you speak the language.

Communication: You can easily communicate with colleagues, employees and easy shopping.
Technically many foreigners might survive in Indonesia without speaking the language but without speaking the language you miss out in a lot of things.

If you do not speak Bahasa you will be cut off from the mainstream society and you will find it difficult communicating with a lot of Indonesians and you miss out in the rich culture Indonesia has to offer.

Also , Indonesians really appreciate foreigners that make an effort to learn Bahasa Indonesia and can easily build relationships with them, be it personal or business.

Get started with your Bahasa Indonesian class.
