 Congratulations to our new CACTE President-Elect, Jeff Schmidt, and our Secretary, Sheryl Ryder!  Here are a  few pictures of our Board Transition meeting held in San Diego on June 22, including induction of our returning Executive Director, Valerie Vuicich, and the Board.  It was also a bittersweet time, as Susie Johnson, a Past President and outgoing Secretary, is retiring from the Board.  Best wishes to Susie!!

Ballots for 2016-2017 CACTE Officers were distributed electronically on May 18th.  If you did not receive it, please contact Diane Walker at cacte@californiaacte.mygbiz.com.  Dr. Vera Jacobson-Lundeberg and Jeff Schmidt are running for President-Elect, and Sheryl Ryder is running to fill the unexpired term for Secretary.

Bylaws changes were proposed at the annual meeting in March 2015 - please check the Document File Cabinet tab on this site to review the changes.  Ballots were sent in June and changes were approved by the CACTE membership, effective July 1, 2015.

Nominations for President-Elect, and Member-at-Large (Kathy Boyd) were received from the floor at the annual meeting in March of 2015; ballots were distributed and received.  Dr. Cliff Adams-Hart is our new CACTE President - Elect. Susie Johnson was re-elected as Secretary, and Larry Koch as Treasurer.

The Region V Leadership Conference was held in Overland Park, KS on April 15-18, 2015, including a Leadership 101 pre-conference and outstanding break-out sessions.  Our wonderful CACTE Secretary, Susie Johnson, was recognized as our CACTE Admin of the Year, Ed Hernandez as CACTE Teacher of the Year, and former Executive Director Ross Arnold was inducted into the Region V Hall of Fame.  

Our California ACTE annual meeting was held at the Educating for Careers Conference 2015 in Sacramento on Monday, March 2nd.  Thanks to those who attended and are ready to participate on a committee or as an officer.  We need your voice and hands to make CACTE a growing success!

National Policy Seminar was held in Washington, DC on March 2-4, 2015.  ACTE National Policy Seminar 2015 .

Hope all of your celebrations for CTE Month 2015 in February were great - the theme was "Recognizing Classroom Innovators."  Remember to share your successes and commemorations on social media using the hashtags #CalACTE and #CTEMonth.

CareerTech Vision 2014 in Nashville, TN was a great event.  For those who attended, video sessions will be available for you to view and share at no additional cost; for those who did not attend, there will be a small fee to use/share the materials - see ACTE Career Tech Vision 2014 for details.  Next year's conference will be held in New Orleans, LA on Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22, 2015 (with pre-conference sessions on Thursday, 11/19).  We look forward to seeing you there.  Call for presentations is open until March 13, 2015.

Our California ACTE annual awards deadline has been extended to Monday, 12 January 2015 - please make sure to nominate a deserving teacher, administrator and/or counselor for our awards - winners will be recognized at the Educating for Careers Conference.  Applications are through the on-line portal at:  California ACTE Awards Portal .  State winners are also eligible to participate in the Region V awards program.

California ACTE has once again received the ACTE Quality Association Award for 2014 - our tenth consecutive year.  This is a testament to the great work done by every member and the Executive Board.  Congratulations!

Your CACTE Executive Committee met on Thursday June 26 in San Marcos for the annual Board Transition meeting, and to give a fond farewell and thank you to our retiring Executive Director, Ross Arnold.  Our incoming officers for 2014-2015 and new Executive Director, Valerie Vuicich, were also inducted.  Thanks to all who participated!



California ACTE was awarded the bid for the "Smooth Sailing in Paradise" Region V conference in 2016 to be held at the Bahia Resort in San Diego on April 20-23, 2016!!  Stay tuned for more information how you can participate . . . .

Congratulations to Ronda Adams, who was elected as CACTE President-Elect for 2014-2015, and to Larry Koch, who will serve another term as CACTE Treasurer!  Our Board transition meeting will be held in San Marcos on 6-26-14.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Project-Based Learning workshops in Rocklin and Anaheim, and thanks also to Dr. James Brown, our distinguished presenter.  Look for information regarding possible 3-day follow-up sessions this summer.

ACTE's Best Practices Conference will be held in Cape Cod, MA September 17-19, 2014.
ACTE National Policy Seminar 2014 in Washington, DC was a great success, with 6 CACTE members attending and visiting policy-makers on Capitol Hill to inform them of the value of supporting CTE through Perkins funding, as well as issues with ESEA, HEA, WIA, and other legislation.

CACTE award winners were announced at the Educating for Careers Conference in Sacramento on March 4, 2014: Bob Tyra received the CACTE Career Guidance Award, and Karen Nelson received the CACTE Administrator of the Year Award.
