Module 1: Sheltered Instruction Basics

 Content Objectives: Language Objectives:
  • Recognize the basic components of Sheltered Instruction. 
  • Understand the challenge academic language presents to English Language Learners (ELLs) in the classroom.
  • Identify ways to support ELLs in the classroom
  •  Develop a lexicon regarding sheltered instruction to enable collaboration and improved instruction for ELLs.

This research-based training is required as part of Caldwell County Schools' Title III Improvement Plan.  All certified teachers are required to complete Module 1 by April 17, 2015.  The training will take approximately 1.5 hours.  It may be completed at your own pace.  There is a Sheltered Instruction Knowledge Assessment at the end of the training. After completing the knowledge assessment, you will receive an email with your score.  A minimum score of 85% is required.  The assessment may be taken as many times as needed.  Once the minimum score of 85% is attained, please print the email and submit it to your principal before the April 17 deadline.
