Weekly Note



Next week we will be testing Monday-Thursday in the mornings.  I will not be testing after lunch any days.  Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest each night and eats a good breakfast.  I want them to be focused and really put forth their best all week.  It's going to be a crazy week and hope to have good weather so we can get a good recess each day!

Make sure your child has new #2 pencils and erasers and a handheld pencil sharpener.  

There will be no homework next week and no spelling, MV, or reading story.  

Friday is the Easter Party.  Don't forget to bring in 12 filled eggs to hunt for and a basket or bag to hunt with.  Everyone will go home with 12 eggs!

Next week we will be ending the week very excited for our Varsity Basketball Team. Our boys have made it to the State Tournament game on Thursday at MTSU and they will play at 11:30. If and WHEN they win on Thursday - we will have a HALF day on Friday and dismiss at 11:15. We will not know about Friday until after the game on Thursday.

We will be reviewing in Reading and English this week - getting ready ready for our Stanford Achievement test the week of March 19 - 22.

Wednesday we will have a MV test over Matthew 5:9-10.

Friday - Spelling Test and Social Studies Test.

Our Easter Party is March 23rd at 2pm. Your child will need to bring in 12 filled eggs for our Easter Egg hunt. Each child will go home with 12 filled Easter eggs. If you have any questions let me know.

We have had a fun-filled week with Dr. Seuss.  Even though we had a lot of rain this week it didn't dampen their spirits inside the classroom!  We had a lot of fun each day as we discussed a different book each day!  We started the week with our Solar System Project and ended the week with our Fraction Food Project that were all great!  Thanks for everything this week!  

Next week should be a fairly normal week!  We will be discussing Jesus' miracles in Bible.  Our memory verse for the week is:

Matthew 5:5-6 -Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

MV Test will be on Wednesday.

Wednesday there will be a Math test over Chapter 8 (Fractions).  

Friday they will have a Vocabulary reading test and spelling test.   I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  

If any of you would like to purchase a Boston Fern - Football Fundraiser- my son (Grant #71) would be happy to sell you one or two... :-).  Thank you to the ones who have already purchased some from Grant - he really appreciates it and this is the only fundraiser (besides the 5K) that they football players do.  It will really help the team!  Email me if you would like a fern.  They are $20.

This week is going along great and I am sending this note early because I will not be here tomorrow.  I will be heading to Gatlinburg with my church family to CYC (Challenge Youth Conference).  It is always and amazing weekend and a weekend to be with family and friends and get closer to God!  I wish I could take all my students with me!  Love it!!  Pray for safe travels as our church takes around 80 youth and family members from our church family to CYC.  The singing is amazing and so uplifting.  Can you tell I am a little excited!! :-)

Next week is going to be a fun-filled crazy week with Dr. Seuss Week!

1-8 Due Thursday

9-17 Due Friday!

Send in recipe and food!  We will be eating for snack each day!  Send a drink for your child each day!

We will not have a reading story out of our story book this week.  I will be reading a Dr. Seuss book each day and do activities with.

This week has been a great week and most of the week we have had pretty good weather.  Remember Monday is no school - we are out for President's Day.  We will not have a reading story this week I will be testing each child on their Raz reading levels.  

We started a new chapter in Math today and we will be working with Fractions all week.  Don't forget about Fraction activity that is due March 1st and 2nd.  I sent an email yesterday about it and also there is a hard copy note in their binders.

Wednesday your child will have a Bible test and MV test (Matthew 5:3-4).  

Spelling test on Friday and their new words for next week are already in their binders.

I hope everyone is healthy or if not are on the road to recovery.  I feel ok, my throat just hurts.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by Monday.  I hope you all have a great weekend.

Next week your child will have a MV test on Wednesday

Math test will be on Thursday over chapter 7.  We will be reviewing all week and review sheets will go home each night.

Friday your child will have a spelling test and reading story test (Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type).

I will run by school this afternoon and get the students tests from today and hopefully get them in Renweb this weekend.  I included the spelling words for next week below and please make sure your child writes them in their binder for NEXT week. They will get a treat if their words are wrote in their planner - I will check on Monday.

Thanks for all of you that came for the parent/teacher conferences last night.  I enjoyed chatting with each of you!  Thanks for supporting me and your child and with us working together, your child will finish off the year Fantastic!  Remember if you ever need to talk with me about anything - don't want for conference time - contact me immediately!  I am happy to meet with anyone at anytime.

Happy Groundhog Day!!  So the Groundhog saw his shadow this morning and 6 more weeks of winter (supposedly).....  I am so tired of winter and ready for summer!  

Next week - Monday your child will have their spelling test from last week and reading story test.  (We will get those out of the way in the morning so we can move on with our regular Monday work).

I will also send spelling words to each parent separately that they can write in their binder for next week.  

Tuesday your child will have a science test.  Your child should have their science book and study guide with them.  I sent them both home yesterday.  If your child doesn't have their study guide (I know of atleast two that doesn't have it, because I saw it shoved in their desk!) then they were not listening when I told them to put study guide in homework folder in binder and science book in their backpack.....  Test is over C29-55 in the Science Book!  Study the study guide sheets and let the child read over the pages C29-55.

Wednesday your child will have their memory verse test that also should be in their homework folder written out to study 

(2 Timothy 1:7 - For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.)

We will be discussing plural nouns in English and finish up talking about Homophones.  

In Bible we will be starting the New Testament and talking about Jesus' birth.  

In reading we will be discussing our new story vocabulary words with our new story "Click, Clack Moo Cows that type".  

Vocabulary words: understand, gathered, impatient, impossible, believe, problem, demand, furious - they will have the definitions on Monday to take home and study for test that will be on Friday.

Friday  Reading vocabulary test and Spelling test.

We have had a great full week.  Weather has been very pleasant this week.  The forecast for next week looks Cold and possibly ice and snow again by Thursday evening.......  I am ready for SPRING!! 

Today we started our new chapter in Math and been talking about telling time and today we went over elapsed time (this is usually a hard concept for 2nd grade)....  We did a lot of examples together and even did elapsed time for our full day at school... they seemed to understand - so, please check over their homework sheet and discuss problems together if they missed any.  Most finished sheet in class but I told them for you to check it and send back to school on Monday.

Wednesday they will have a MV test. 

Thursday is Parent/Teacher Conferences from 1:00-7:00.

Friday is Spelling test and Jellies Story Test.

The Next Science test will be on February 6th that will cover C29-55.

I hope everyone enjoyed their extra week off of school....  Wow - didn't see that coming!  I have cleaned and organized and was ready to come back to school!  Talk about cabin fever - I had it!  With my son having the flu on Friday and we pretty much stayed home the entire time! 

Next week will hopefully be a full and regular week!

MV Test on Wednesday -

Science Test will also be on Wednesday.

Thursday they will have a math test.

Friday there will be a Spelling test and Reading Vocabulary test.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the long weekend.  I hope everyone is well!  I know Quade and Beckett have been sick I hope they are both well and no one else is sick.  My son, Grant has had Flu A - but has gone all day today with no fever!  I hope that is a good sign!!  Since I've been inside the house since Thursday I've decided to create my website again since the other one was deleted as of December 31st.  I lost everything from the old site - but have worked to re-create another website .  Please give me your feedback on what you think about my new site.  If I am missing anything or if there is something you want me to add to the site please let me know.

Week of 1/15-1/19


NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!  For that reason next week has been changed a little.


Tuesday - Spelling Test & Reading Test from this week ( I will be sending home reading books to review over the weekend).  We will be starting a new story Vocabulary on Tuesday.

Wednesday - MV Test (Proverbs 30:5) & Science Test (Study guide pages went home yesterday and I am sending home Science books today)

Thursday - Math Test (Math review sheets going home to work on over the long weekend).  You don't have to return to school just keep at home!

Friday - Spelling Test and Reading Vocabulary Test over new words.
