Band Camp 2017!

Hello All!

Band Camp 2017 is officially underway! We had a great first day, and we have a lot of new and exciting things to share with you!

We have two Drum Majors this year, and we have also added a Color Guard! This is a first for Carrollton in a number of years, and Mrs. Pendry and I cannot express our excitement enough!

You may be wondering why are these things are important to our band program. A Drum Major is a leader of a marching band. We have Joshua Knight and Matthew Heger, who are both juniors this year at Carrollton High School, who have stepped up to take on a leadership role with the band and who are assisting Mrs. Pendry and I with teaching the basics of marching and the commands associated with marching. Trent Jilg, who is a senior at Carrollton this year, is our percussion section leader this year as well.

Our Color Guard, 7th and 8th Grade students Kathryn Tepen, Barbi Butler, and Chloe Walker, will be featured in our marching band this year. Traci Tepen, our Music Boosters President, is choreographing the Color Guard routines.

This week, the students will also be working on reading drill sheets, setting up, and marching through drill. A drill, in marching band terms, is a picture or design that is made on the field by the marching band.

On Friday evening, to wrap up our band camp activities, we will be hosting a gathering at the Carrollton Pool for Flick 'N Float. Students will be allowed to swim and watch our movie for the night, Finding Dory. Flick 'N Float will be held from 8-10pm.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Pendry or I. Let's have a great week! :)
