American History Online - easy to use and understand

Britannica Encyclopedia (better than Wikipedia)

Nineties in America- covers all major events during this decade (only accessible from school)

JSTOR - essays and opinions on major societal events

Digital Public Library - information with pictures to better inform you on any topic

Library of Congress Digital Collection - The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps and manuscripts in its collections. The Library is the main research arm of the U.S. Congress and the home of the U.S. Copyright Office.

Smithsonian - Founded in 1846, the Smithsonian is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, consisting of 19 museums and galleries, the National Zoological Park, and nine research facilities.
