New for 2015: Project Allocations by School
If you would like to request additional allocations, or if you know you will not use all of your project slots, please email Jennifer.Barr@bvsd.org as soon as possible and/or no later than . There will be an appeals process,
which Jenn will facilitate. Please call or email with questions.
The allocation number is based on school participation over the last four years
AND the number of participants delegated to a school based on school population.

Top of Category Award ($5000); First Place ($3000), Logan Collins, Fairview
“The Conjugative Plasmid RK2 As a Delivery System for Artificial AnatheriaH Genes: A Novel Synthetic Biology Alternative to Traditional Antibiotics”
Logan also received the Dudley R. Herschbach SIYSS Award, which is a trip to Sweden to attend the Nobel Prize ceremonies. Collins received $400 (5th place) from the American Society for Microbiology and $1000 (1st place) from the Patent and Trademark Office Society.
Earth & Planetary Sciences
Second Place ($1500), Jesse Zhang, Fairview
“Lunar Tide Contribution to Thermosphere Weather”
Jesse also received an Honorable Mention from the American Meteorological Society. In addition, he received a trip to attend the Taiwan International Science Fair and $1000 (3rd place) from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Third Place ($1000), Hope Weinstein, Fairview
