First info meeting will be Thursday, August 23rd in room 3386 from 3:00-3:30. Returning players (only) will meet on Monday for an unofficial practice to plan for the upcoming season.

Congrats to our teams, HULA & FLOWER POWER!

FLOWER POWER earned our SECOND STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE in the spring of 2018, while HULA pushed on past the competition until  the SEMI-FINALS, finishing in the top FOUR teams in the state of Colorado! Show our players & coaches some BHS LOVE, for their amazing teamwork in the 2017-2018 season.

We look forward to you joining us on the field!

Ultimate frisbee in the FALL SEASON is for
ALL GENDERS, and our team is HULA!

In the SPRING SEASON, we split into two teams:
HULA - "open" team (generally for students who identify as boys, but all genders for some other schools)
FLOWER POWER - for students who identify as girls

*You are not required to play both seasons to be on the team, but we hope you do! * (Many ultimate players participate in other sports...all good! Talk with coaches and we'll figure it out!)

Our first meeting will be Thursday, August 25th at 3:00-3:30 in room 3386! Watch out for PTV announcements and signs in the hallways!
Our first official practice date will be Saturday, August 27th, and will take place at North Boulder Park from 4-6 pm*.
*Please note that while we have nice weather and light, our practices may go a little later*   YAY, ULTIMATE!

Generally, we start (official) practices 2 weeks after the beginning of the school year.
Informal throwing practice happens during both lunches, grab a disc and come out to throw!

Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-6 pm at North Boulder Park
Thursdays - Games at North Boulder Park or at hosting BVSD schools starting at 4-4:30 pm (depending on distance between schools)
Weekend practices are on Saturday mornings (10 am-12 pm)

*Some students have conflicting schedules with some practice times/days. Players must communicate and plan for those with coaches individually. More time doing your best at practice means more playing time during games!  :)

Things to bring to practice:
-Comfortable athletic clothing (& layers! Remember, Colorado weather changes FAST!)
-Full water bottle/electrolytes (some players bring more than one!)
-Small snack (banana/fruit/energy bar/etc.)
-Cleats (soccer or football, with rubber/plastic spikes-- NO METAL!) (tennis shoes are okay to start if you don't have cleats yet, but after you're hooked, you'll want to get a pair of cleats!)
-Light and dark jersey or t-shirt
-Disc (175 gram official Ultimate frisbee disc!)
-Fuel & fire to have an awesome season!

Thursdays @ 4:00 pm
Games take place at North Boulder Park for home games, and at fields of other Boulder Valley Schools.
Warm-ups begin ASAP after school or after arrival to the host school's fields.

Rides to/from games and practice:
Many players RIDE THEIR BIKES from BHS to practice.
Others find the bus works just as well-- take the SKIP on Broadway to the Ideal Market stop, then walk a few blocks to get to North Boulder Park.
Rides can be arranged within the team with senior students; often students will carpool or have a parent volunteer to drive players to practice/games.

Athletes communicate mostly through our Facebook group to update on games, practice, jersey orders, etc.
Players may search for this group and we will approve their request so that they may keep up-to-date with team communication.  If you do not have a Facebook account, send your email to one of the captains to have your name added to our email list for updates.

If you have more questions about the team, please fill out this form which will put you in contact with our coaches.

**If you cannot afford the fees and costs associated with playing Ultimate Frisbee, please talk to our coaches and/or club sponsor privately so that we can help you out! All students should have the chance to play Ultimate! **

USAU (the governing body of ultimate frisbee for high school, college club, and masters club ultimate for the USA) has a membership requirement of $18 for the INTRO fee or $36 for the annual registration.

Other fall fees for BHS are TBA-- costs usually include the price of a jersey (light and dark or one jersey that is (light/dark) reversible) and tournament fees (2-4 tournaments are standard for our fall season), and run from $50-100, depending on the jerseys chosen by the team, and the number of jerseys ordered.
