Warrior Families- Get Involved!

Ironman Volunteering

In exchange for our hard work, the Boulder Ironman and 70.3 provides grants for the team, which will help pay for team travel, food, equipment, and other expenses. Every athlete on the team is expected to help at a volunteering event. These events are great ways to get involved in your community, have fun working hand-in-hand with your teammates, and earn NHS service hours!
We are lucky to have opportunities like these to participate in and give back to our local running community.
All Centaurus XC athletes are highly encouraged to volunteer!

Team Dinners

Before every meet, a different family volunteers their home for a pasta dinner. This is a chance for the athletes to fuel up before an event; is a chance for parents to mingle with the team; and is a fun, healthy, way to prepare for competition. Beware! Warriors can eat a LOT! The family(ies) hosting the event provide the pasta, and directions to their home. Athletes bring additional food: for example, freshmen = salads, sophomores = bread, juniors = drinks, seniors = dessert. Details, including schedule, directions, and who brings what, will be emailed out prior to the night.
We ask that the hosts provide slips with directions and “who brings what” for practice the day of the pasta dinner.

Meet Snacks

It has become tradition that one or more families donate snacks for the athletes to eat during their meets.  If donating food, we ask that you provide healthy pre-race snacking foods.

Examples:
  • Granola Bars
  • Fruit
  • Pretzels, Animal crackers
  • Juices, Energy Drinks
  • Bagels and Peanut Butter
Snacks can be brought to school the day of the meet and left in the Cross Country office or the Main Office, or delivered to school immediately prior to bus departure (times listed on the team website).

We put on one heck of an event in early September every year, but it only happens because all hands are on deck! There are opportunities in the concession stand arena (donate food), or in the course set-up and course marshaling arena. See the Home Invitational section of the website for more information!

Toward the end of the season.  Yep, its dark and early!  We begin in the dark, finish in the light, and then chow down!
