Employee Technology Tools (ETT)

Technology for eligible employees will be replaced as needed once their primary device is at least 5+ years old.

Standard Employee Devices

  • DLT (District Leadership Team) Members - Laptops with docking station or Chromebooks

  • Teachers (licensed and certified) - Chromebooks (see Teacher Chromebook FAQ)

  • Office professionals - Desktops
  • Custodians, other employees - At the discretion of their building administration

Please note:
If employee believes a different device (example: Macbook Pro) is needed to adequately perform primary job functions, funding for the difference in the cost of the device will come from a department/school budget. Employees may continue to bring a personally owned device to use in their role in BVSD. Personally owned devices are not supported by IT.

Current Employee Requirements

  • Employees are eligible for a new primary device after 5+ years.

  • Employees must work at least .17 FTE for BVSD.

  • An employee's mobile device (Chromebook, laptop, etc.) is assigned to the person (not the school) and DOES MOVE with them if they change schools or departments within BVSD.

  • An employee's desktop DOES NOT MOVE with them if they change schools or departments within BVSD.

New Employee Requirements

  • Employees must be new to BVSD.

  • Employees must work at least .17 FTE for BVSD.

  • New office professionals (principal assistants, counselors, registrars, clerical, etc), custodians, and other employees will be assigned an existing standard device at the discretion of their building administrator.

Exiting Employee Process (retired, terminated, or leaving the district)

  • An IT Service Request will be created by the IT department on your behalf.

  • An IT Customer Service Technician will reclaim your mobile device for repurposing; desktops will be reimaged for the new office professionals.

  • Go to IT Service Request, click on "Submit a Request," and fill out the form.

  • Include your device's asset tag number, which is the 6-digit number listed on the blue tag labelled “PROPERTY OF BVSD.”

When your mobile device is refreshed after the 5-year timeline, expect the following:

  • Your old mobile device is available for you to take and use personally.

  • IT staff will remove any district management and software and this device will no longer be supported by the IT department. Your device will be loaded with the Chrome Operating System and will function as a Chromebook.
