Categories include Non-Fiction (short), Non-Fiction (long), Fiction, Poetry, Light Verse, Stories for Children,
Poetry for Children, and Sally Svee-Humorous Fiction or Non_Fiction

Only adult writers living in Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Guilford, Orange, Randolph, and Rockingham Counties are eligible.

Manuscripts must be the original, unpublished work of the contestant, not pending publication, and must not have received a first place award in any competition. Writers may submit one (1) entry in each category. No entry may be placed in more than one category.

Burlington Writers Club members may enter free.  Deadline for $20.00 membership dues is Dec 31, 2017.  Non-member entry fee is $8.00 per entry for Poetry and $10.00 per entry for Prose.

First, second and third place winners will receive a small cash prize and a certificate of merit. First place winners will be asked to read their winning entry at an Awards Banquet on Tuesday, May 15th at 6:30 p.m

The Burlington Writers Club is sponsoring its second annual “One County/One Prompt” contest. This year’s prompt is ‘Carousel.’
The poem can be about the Dentzel Menagerie Carousel at City Park, any carousel at a state or county fair or local carnival. Or, carousel may be a metaphor for one aspect of life.
The poem should be limited to 30 lines and entries must be typed and two copies must be submitted. One copy, in the upper right-hand corner should include the name, address and phone number, and the second copy must have the title, but no identification. No entry fee and prizes will be awarded.
Entries must be mailed to Poetry Contest, 2738 Crescent Hill Court, Mebane, NC 27302.
