Children's Theater Workshop

Theater education for kids in grades 1 through 7 at the Park Playhouse

The Children's Theater Workshop program is run by the Burlington Players under the sponsorship of the Burlington
Recreation Department. The program began in 1973 and is run by the Burlington Players and Winnmere Family Theater.  New students are accepted each fall. The season begins with Creative Dramatics classes (grades 1-7) and Stagecraft workshops (grades 4-7 only), ending in December with a demonstration class for family and friends. The students return in January for the spring session, which concludes with a fully mounted production in late March/April.

Classes are 1 hour long and take place from 6PM to 7PM and 7PM to 8PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  The fall session is 8 weeks long.  New students are accepted in the fall.

Creative Dramatics, open to kids in grades 1 - 7,  helps develop imagination, voice, body movement, story telling, character creation and other performance skills.  Working on a show teaches team work and cooperation while building confidence.

In Stage Craft, open to kids in grades 4 - 7, students get to "learn by doing" by working on projects in the technical aspect of theater: set design, costumes, make-up, lighting, sound, etc.  Students run the state-of-the-art equipment in our booth for the spring production and support the show as stage and house crew as needed.  The majority of our stage craft students enroll in both classes.

Fall registration is Tuesday and Wednesday Sept 12 & 13
from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the Park Playhouse

**New this year**
You do not need to attend registration in person. You can enroll online and pay tuition at the first class of the session. New students who want to learn more about the program, get a tour of the theater or just check us out are more than welcome to come
in person to registration.
