BSME Development Conference
3 February 2017

As the largest network of British International Schools in the region, the British Schools in the Middle East are moving from strength to strength. We now have 103 school members with several more school visits scheduled in the coming months. This continued growth depends on our strong and credible BSME brand, which is a reflection of the high quality schools we serve as our members.

The vision of the Executive Committee is to continue to grow the BSME. To this end, the working version of the BSME Development Plan for 2016 – 2017 is complete. However, to ensure that the new services and tools included in the Development Plan are fit for purpose and meet your needs, we are inviting you to contribute to its review and development.

The BSME Development Conference will be held at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai on the 3rd of February 2017 from 10am – 4pm.

Aspects of the Development Plan which require your input include:
  • Membership criteria, including the Code of Conduct
  • CPD
  • Accreditation
  • New services and tools available to member schools
Wider representation of BSME schools, particularly with government organisations.

There will, no doubt, be other matters as well. Should you wish to add to this agenda, please send these through to me (coo@bsme.org.uk).

We look forward to meeting with you!

6 - 9 March 2017

We are delighted to finalise the details of our 35th Annual Headteacher Conference in Bahrain from 6 - 9 March 2017. We are looking forward to welcoming all BSME schools to the Conference. The BSME team has secured the Crowne Plaza (IHG group) for this event. Should you require further information regarding the venue, please contact Mier Weaver

The 35th Annual Conference will see a diverse and impressive selection of speakers in attendance. We know that you will share in our enthusiasm. Keynotes include Prof. Yong Zhao, Professor in the School of Education, University of Kansas, and Joshua Jay – Conjurer, Lecturer, Performer of All-Things-Mysterious. We have also secured the expertise of Dr Ger Graus OBE, Director of Education and Partnerships at KidZania UK and former Chief Executive of the Children’s University as well as Russell Spiers, Founder and CEO of RSAcademics. We will be running at least one panel discussion and are fortunate to have Mishal Kanoo, Chairman of The Kanoo Group, in attendance.

Whilst the Annual Conference takes place at the Crowne Plaza, the Gala Dinner will be held at the Intercontinental Regency Hotel. Should you decide on the Regency for your accommodation, transport will be provided between hotels to facilitate Conference and Exhibition timings. For your convenience, we are offering the choice of a direct link to each Hotel's Reservation Department. Please contact Mier Weaver to access this service.

Please be reminded that all BSME Schools are eligible for one free delegate place as part of your membership benefits. This is included in the online booking form. Upon booking, you will also receive one free Gala Dinner ticket, another membership benefit.
