The DTC established a definition for the Barrington 220 One to World initiative during the 2014-15 school year.

The Barrington 220 One to World Initiative
  • Allows students to participate as global citizens.
  • Provides unlimited opportunities for real-world learning.
  • Fosters creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.
  • Facilitates personalized learning through ownership, choice, and reflection.
  • Allows for immediate and strategic feedback.
The DTC is a committee comprised of approximately 40 members with representatives from the following areas:
  • All Buildings
  • Grade Levels (PK-12)
  • Librarians (PK–5; 6-8; 9–12)
  • DAL Coaches (6-12)/Instructional Coaches (PK-5)
  • Special Education (K–5; 6–12)
  • English Language Learners
  • Principals/Assistant Principals/District Administrators
A membership matrix was used to select members to ensure that the maximum number of district voices are represented.

The DTC will address instructional technology needs of the district, including, but not limited to:
  • Learning Management System (LMS) needs and issues
  • Technology integration professional development needs
  • Email/calendar system transition to Gmail/Google Calendars
  • Testing, piloting, and providing input for future district technology systems
  • Grade 6 One to World device (currently piloting iPad) and Grade 7–8 One to World device selection (iPad or MacBook Air)
  • Grades K-5 pilot of One to World program
  • Represent views of stakeholders across the district
  • Communication to district stakeholders from the District Technology Committee
DTC members work collaboratively to represent views of stakeholders across the the district and communicate back to their buildings and/or departments.
