The sign-out policy at CK is as follows:
Until CK hires all student employee positions and has permanent workshifters, signouts will be limited to the following:
- Toilet Paper
- Paper Towels
- Dishmachine detergent, sanitizer, and rinse aid
- Mozzarella cheese in full blocks only
- Dispensers and bottles of milk
- Dispensers of soymilk (Bottles only if we’ve got them)
- Cases of Eggs
- #10 cans of tomato products
We will also not be able to allow early pickups, as this
creates more work and confusion for our workers. Once we have fully
hired, our regular signout policy will apply:
Regardless of what
you would like to sign out, you must check with Heather or Andrew
before you sign anything out. That keeps you from taking a food item
that has been properly ordered by another house. There are certain days
that are better for signing stuff out - of course, we will always try
to help you, but we would really appreciate it if you called before you
came in, so that we can let you know if anything is available. The BEST
TIMES to sign stuff out are as follows:
Cheese (bulk only) - anytime
Meat, Sausage, tofu, tortillas, chinese noodles
- any time. (we don't usually have beef or fish or chicken, but
sometimes strange things happen, and we have extra stuff that is frozen,
Produce - MWF before 1 is best, because we can take signouts into account for our next orders.
Thursday at 1pm through Tuesday at 9am. Remember, we almost NEVER have
rice, dried beans, flours, or non-dispenser soymilk on hand. But you
can always ask.
Bread - Fridays only - the new online system means that we rarely have any extra bread, so don't count on us!
Dairy - any day is okay, but we only tend to have extra eggs, milk and butter, and occasionally soymilk dispensers.
note that any signouts add greatly to the workload in CK, and reduce
the amount of time available for getting your regular orders out and
costed in a timely manner. If any one house or person is signing out an
unfair amount of items, CK staff reserves the right to deny signouts at
CK’s write-in policy is very
important to follow, especially when it comes to non-perishables. The
nonperishable catalog and the order forms are made up of the most
commonly requested items. We update them every semester, but we still
can't quite keep up. Write-ins are a problem for us because they
require a lot more work all the way through the CK process. Each
write-in must be dealt with separately in each step, from entering
orders, to ordering, to packing, to delivery, to costing. Having a lot
of write-ins takes away from the time that we need to make sure that the
regular stuff gets sent out.
***Until CK hires all student employee positions and has permanent workshifters, NO WRITE-INS WILL BE ACCEPTED.***
This is the write-in policy once we hire completely:
- If it is available in one part of CK, (teas, dried fruits, etc...),
please don't write it in. A case of tea should be ordered online if you
can buy it by the box online. (ex. Choice Genmaicha - just order 12
- No refrigerated stuff from Costco, no #10 cans not already in the Costco section of the catalog.
- If you write in a Mountain People or Falcon Order, remember that you
are ordering at your own risk. You must put the item number and PAGE
NUMBER and a complete description. We will not take back anything that
has wrong numbers, and we aren't going to check your numbers.
- Finally, write-ins will be our last priority. If we are really
strapped for time, we will process all the "regular" stuff first. We
may not be able to tell you if we can't get something. We also may not
tell you if we run out of time and decide not to order it.
- If you have special dinner items, please call us ahead of time, and
let us know you'll be placing a special order. You might want to email
us (firstname.lastname@example.org) a list of stuff that is really important, so we can check on the status.
The return policy at CK is pretty mellow. Just follow this simple procedure:
- DO NOT OPEN IT. This means, leave the container closed and in its box.
- Call CK, 549-5969, as soon as possible--the same day or the next
morning. Leave a message if necessary. Some of our suppliers will not
credit us if we do not call within a certain time.
- Say, "We received X. Either (a) I misordered or (b) I think it was
misdelivered or (c) I think there is something wrong with it. Please
please will you take it back?"
- Then Heather or Rose will tell you whether that's possible (if it is
our fault we will always take it back, but if it is your fault, we
cannot always take it back) and will either ask you to bring it back or
leave it in a prominent place in your kitchen with a gigantic note to
the delivery people who will pick it up.
