CONDUCT MEMBER ADVISOR

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Conduct Member Advisor is the primary resource for members involved in conduct proceedings at the central-level. They provide assistance and information to both the complainant and respondent involved in conduct cases to ensure they understand the process and can appropriately prepare and effectively participate in the grievance process. They also act as the primary resource for members and unit-level managers involved in review hearings and/or personnel-related matters. The Conduct Member Advisor is obliged to attend all and Conduct Committee (ConCom) meetings, screening meetings, and to assist members in preparing for and/or participating in hearings that come before the committee, as well as in any potential appeals of those decisions. The Conduct Member Advisor will also serve as a resource to the membership, being available via office hours, phone, and email to answer conduct-related questions and provide guidance on BSC conduct policies and grievance procedures. The Conduct Member Advisor must also gain a thorough understanding of BSC administrative policies/procedures and be willing to fill in for the Administrative Member Advisor in the event of unavailability or conflict of interest.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be eligible BSC members with strong organizational skills, including ability to balance multiple, competing priorities and cases under strict deadlines. Applicants must have previous experience conducting interviews and gathering facts about conduct and/or personal issues. Applicants must also have previous experience and skill handling sensitive and confidential information. They must have excellent oral advocacy skills and develop a thorough knowledge of the BSC Member Contract and administrative and conduct policies and procedures. Additionally, they must have an understanding of and demonstrated ability to maintain strong professional boundaries when contacted about confidential issues and members’ requests/cases.
HOURS/PAY: This is an 11-hour/week position, compensated with a rent credit at $22.00/hour for six hours/week and fulfilling your five-hours/week workshift requirement. Apartment dwellers and summer residents will receive an additional rent credit stipend for the five workshift hours (at $22.00/hour), as this job does not replace the workshift requirement in these instances.
